Installation Procedure

  1. Install camshaft gear (9) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Lubricate O-ring (18) with oil being sealed.

    2. Tighten bolts (15) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (221 ± 27 lb in).

    3. Apply clean engine oil to bolts (13). Tighten bolts (13) to a torque of 30 ± 2 N·m (266 ± 18 lb in) then turn an extra 90 degrees ± 5 degrees.

    4. Tighten bolts (10) to a torque of 60 ± 3 N·m (44 ± 2 lb ft) then turn an extra 60 degrees ± 6 degrees.

    5. Align camshaft timing wheel (8). Refer to Troubleshooting, "Engine Speed/Timing Sensor - Calibrate".

    6. Check backlash of camshaft gear (9). Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Rear Gear Group - Time".

    7. Apply Tooling (A) to bolts (6). Tighten bolts (6) to a preliminary torque of 10 ± 1 N·m (89 ± 9 lb in). Then tighten to a final torque of 29 ± 4 N·m (257 ± 35 lb in).

    8. Tighten bolt (4) to a torque of 10 ± 1 N·m (89 ± 9 lb in).
