Expansion Tank - Remove and Install

Usage:

C12.9 PC7

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedure.

  2. Remove cap (2). Remove cable strap (1) and cable strap (3). Disconnect harness assembly (4) and position out of the way.

  3. Remove bolts (6). Cut cable straps (7). Disconnect harness assembly (10) and position out of the way. Remove bolts (9) and bolts (11). Remove bolts (5) and bolts (8).

    View below the expansion tank. Pipe removed for clarity.

  4. Disconnect tube assembly (14). Remove bolts (13) and remove expansion tank (12).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install expansion tank (12) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten tube assembly (14) to a torque of 32 ± 3 N·m (283 ± 27 lb in).

    2. Tighten bolts (13) to a torque of 45 ± 5 N·m (33 ± 4 lb ft).

    3. Tighten bolts (11) to a torque of 10 ± 1 N·m (890 ± 9 lb in).

    4. Tighten bolts (9) to a torque of 10 ± 1 N·m (890 ± 9 lb in).

    5. Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 45 ± 5 N·m (33 ± 4 lb ft).

    6. Tighten bolts (6) to a torque of 35 ± 4 N·m (26 ± 3 lb ft)

    7. Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 9 ± 1 N·m (80 ± 9 lb in)
