False Intake Manifold Air Temperature Causing Shutdown on Certain G3412 Engines with EMCP 4.2 Panels{1920, 4490, 7490}

Usage:

G3412 KAP
Engine:
G3412 (S/N: R7A1-UP; KAP1-UP)
G3412C (S/N: SPY1-UP)

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

The location of intake manifold air temperature (IMAT) switch does not allow for enough intake air to flow around sensing probe. That coupled with proximity of the turbocharger allows for additional heat soaking of the separate circuit aftercooler (SCAC) housing at the mounting location of switch.

Resolution

Disable digital input #1 on the EMCP 4.2 panel. The engine is still protected by the detonation detection if there is true high IMAT temperature.
