Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  2. Remove clamps (1) and clamps (3). Disconnect hose (2) and hose (4).

  3. Disconnect tube assembly (5) and tube assembly (6).

  4. Disconnect harness assembly (7). Remove coolant level sensor (8).

  5. Remove bolts (10) and wire assembly (9).

  6. Remove bolts (11) and heat exchanger (12).

  7. Remove bolts (13), bonnet (14), and the O-ring seal.

  8. Remove bolts (16), bolts (17), regulator cover (15), inlet bonnet (18), and the O-ring seals.

  1. Remove spacer (20), element assembly (19), and the O-ring seals.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install heat exchanger (12) in the reverse order of removal.
