Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

Improper shutdowns of the display can cause memory corruptions. Proper shutdown and a good backup battery will prevent memory corruptions of the display module. If corruption is present (identifiable by .mwf files missing or consistent and repeat Tope crashing), use the software tool listed below to repair the CMPD corruption. In some instances a black CMPD screen and red blinking LED may be present.

Solution

For CMPDs that are exhibiting the above symptoms, please ensure all of the following are present:

  • Signs of corruption present (missing .mwf files, consistent/repeat crashing of Tope, black CMPD screen, and red blinking LED)

  • Functional USB port

  • Ability to boot the OS (operation application or "honeycomb" screen), shown below.

The corruption repair tool ("Erase"filesys.exe) is located in the SISweb "Downloads" section, under "MineStar Systems".

Once all of the above conditions have been verified, use the following tool and instruction:

CMPD - Corruption Repair Tool Instructions

  1. This tool will "Erase" all information on the device, including configuration files. Save topeconfig.txt and topewinconfig.txt before proceeding, otherwise reconfiguration may be necessary. Once complete, connect a USB service cable to the CMPD and power the unit on.
