Engine Oil Filter Base - Remove and Install

Usage:

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine oil and filter.

  2. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change" for the proper draining and filling procedures.

  3. Disconnect hose assembly (1).

  4. Remove bolts (6) and tube assembly (3).

  5. Remove bolts (2) and bolts (5). Remove oil filter base (4) and the O-ring seals.

    Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.


  6. Remove plug (9), spring (8), and plunger (7) from oil filter base (4).

  7. Remove plug (12), spring assembly (11), and valve (10) from oil filter base (4).

  8. Remove bolt (17), seat (16), spring (15), retainer (14), and spacer (13) from oil filter base (4).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install oil filter base (4) in the reverse order of removal.

  2. Tighten plug (12) to a torque of 100 ± 15 N·m (74 ± 11 lb ft).

  3. Tighten plug (9) to a torque of 100 ± 15 N·m (74 ± 11 lb ft).
