Aftercooler Coolant Temperature Sensor - Remove and Install - Aftercooler Inlet Temperature

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.



NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Isolate the electric power generation set. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Generator Isolating for Maintenance" for the correct procedure.

  2. Drain the coolant from the cooling system to a level below the aftercooler inlet coolant temperature sensor. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

  3. Disconnect harness assembly (1) and remove aftercooler inlet temperature sensor (2).

  4. Remove the O-ring seal from the temperature sensor.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install aftercooler inlet temperature sensor (2) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten aftercooler inlet temperature sensor (2) to a torque of 20 ± 3 N·m (177 ± 27 lb in).
