Aftertreatment Identification Module - Test

Usage:

G3306B NR4
Table 1 lists the diagnostic trouble codes for the Aftertreatment Identification Module.

J1939 Code and Description     System Response    
5576-2 Aftertreatment #1 Identification : Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect     The Aftertreatment Identification Module is not installed. If the engine is not currently running, the engine will not restart. If, the engine is running the engine will shut down within 60 seconds.
   
5576-8 Aftertreatment #1 Identification : Abnormal Frequency, Pulse Width, or Period     The installed Aftertreatment Identification Module is not a match to the engine.

1. Check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes

A. Establish communication between Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) and the Electronic Control Module (ECM). Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electronic Service Tools", if necessary.
   

Diagnostic trouble codes    

Result: A 5576-2 or 5576-8 diagnostic code is active.

Proceed to Test Step 2.

2. Check the Aftertreatment Identification Module

A. Ensure that the Aftertreatment Identification Module is installed.
   

Diagnostic trouble codes    

Result: The Aftertreatment Identification Module is installed.

A 5576-8 is still active.

Repair: Install a certified Aftertreatment Identification Module. Contact your dealer for additional information.
