Description of Change: The former ceramic turbine wheel was very sensitive to foreign object damage (FOD). Improvements have been made to the shape of the inducer (inlet) portion of the ceramic turbine wheel. These changes will improve the ceramic turbine blade's resistance to normal engine exhaust contamination.
Adaptable To: The new 108-5450 Turbocharger Group (Mid-Mount) and new 0R-6783 Remanufactured Turbocharger Group (Mid-Mount) are direct replacements for the former 6I-3029 Turbocharger Group (Mid-Mount) and 0R-6557 Remanufactured Turbocharger Group (Mid-Mount) respectively. The new 108-5451 Turbocharger Group (Low-Mount) and new 0R-6784 Remanufactured Turbocharger Group (Low-Mount) are direct replacements for the former 6I-3172 Turbocharger Group (Low-Mount) and 0R-6558 Remanufactured Turbocharger Group (Low-Mount) respectively. The Low Mount turbocharger groups are used on engine arrangements for Ford and on all Australian engine arrangements. The former turbocharger arrangements are canceled. The new turbocharger groups are in effect with 3406C Truck Engine 4CK18528.
The improved ceramic turbine wheel has been used in the former turbocharger groups since approximately 3406C Truck Engine 4CK15000.
