  • Remove rear lubrication fitting cover (1) and front lubrication fitting cover (2) from the bottom of the power generator. Wipe any debris off the fittings.

  • Attach a grease meter to a battery powered grease gun. Reset the grease meter.

Note: Use Cat High Speed Ball Bearing Grease on the bearings for the power generator. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" for more information on the recommended grease.

Note: Purge the grease gun if the grease gun was previously used with any other type of grease.

  • Lubricate the fittings for the bearings in the power generator. Two fittings are located on the front and two fittings are located on the rear. Meter 70 g (2.5 oz) of grease to each of the four locations. Do not overgrease the bearings in the power generator

Note: For information on special tooling including the grease meter and battery powered lubrication gun, consult your Cat dealer.

  • Install the covers.
