Introduction
This Special Instruction provides the procedure in order to install the spring isolators.
Read the entire special instructions before beginning the spring isolator installation.
The isolators are shipped fully assembled and are to be positioned in accordance with the installation drawings or as otherwise recommended.
The part numbers for the open package and enclosed package isolators are listed in Tables 1 and 2.

- Set the isolators on the floor, housekeeping pad, or sub-base, ensuring that all isolator centerlines match the equipment mounting holes.
Note: It is recommended that the isolator base plates (7) are installed on a level surface.
- Shim or grout as required, leveling all the isolator base plates at the same elevation (1/4-inch maximum difference can be tolerated).
- Mark anchor hole locations (10) as indicated on the base plate footprint prior to drilling.
- Anchor all the isolators to the floor, housekeeping pad, or sub-base using thru holes (10). Use appropriate anchors meeting the design requirements.
Welding the isolators to steel is permitted providing the weld achieves the required strength and appropriate measures have been taken to protect the equipment from damage.
- With all shims (3) in place, remove adjusting bolt (1), and set aside for reuse. Keep nut (9) screwed onto the adjusting bolt.
Note: The isolators are shipped with two removable spacer shims (3) between the top plate and the housing. These shims must be in place when the equipment is positioned over the isolators.
- Place the machine or equipment onto top plate (8), aligning the equipment mounting hole with the tapped hole in the top plate.
- Reattach the adjusting bolt by bolting through the equipment mounting hole into the tapped hole of the isolator. Turn the adjusting bolt until the bolt starts to compress the spring.
- Apply a witness mark to one side of adjusting bolt (1) for tracking rotation accuracy. Leave nut (9) at the top of the adjusting bolt, leaving room for adjusting the isolator per Step 11.
- The adjustment process can only begin after the equipment or machine is at full operating weight. All fluid levels are to be at the "full" level.
- Back off each of the four limit stop locknuts (6) an 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch on all of the isolators.
- Adjust each isolator in sequence by turning adjusting bolts (1) one full clockwise turn at a time. Repeat this procedure on all the isolators, one at a time. Check limit stop locknuts (6) periodically to ensure that clearance between washer (5) and rubber grommet (4) is maintained. Stop the adjustment of an isolator only when the top plate (8) has risen just above shim (3) .
- Remove all spacer shims (3) .
- Fine adjust isolators to level equipment.
- Adjust all limit stop locknuts (6) per isolator to obtain an 1/8 to 3/16 inch gap. The limit stop nuts must be kept at this gap to ensure uniform bolt loading during a seismic event.
- Tighten nut (9) back down on adjusting bolt (1) to fasten the equipment securely to the isolator. Installation is complete.

Note: Shipping blocks (4) are installed. Remove the blocks once the unit is permanently installed.
- With all shipping blocks (4) in place, remove all the bolts securing the blocks in place. Each metal block has three bolts to remove, two into the sub-base and one into the Genset base.
- Loosen nut (13) to the top of adjusting bolt (5) .
- Turn adjusting bolt (5) clockwise until the adjusting bolt starts to compress the springs.
- Apply a witness mark to one side of adjusting bolt (5) for tracking rotation accuracy. Leave nut (9) at the top of the adjusting bolt, leaving room for adjusting the isolator per Step 9.
- The adjustment process can only begin after the equipment or machine is at full operating weight. All fluid levels are to be at the "full" level.
- Ensure each of the four limit stop locknuts (10) on all the isolators are fully loosened to the bottom of the limit stop bolts.
- Adjust each isolator in sequence by turning adjusting bolts (5) one full clockwise turn at a time. Repeat this procedure on all the isolators, one at a time, until the Genset base is supported above shipping blocks (4) .
- Remove all shipping blocks (4) as well as all spacer shims (7).
- Once all the shipping blocks and the spacer shims have been removed, adjust each isolator in sequence by turning adjusting bolts (5) one full counter-clockwise turn at a time to lower the unit. Repeat this procedure on all isolators, one at a time. Check the limit stop locknuts (10) periodically to ensure that clearance between washer (9) and rubber grommet (8) is maintained. Stop adjustment of an isolator only when top plate (12) has been lowered to approximately a 1/4 of an inch above the limit stop grommets (8) .
- Fine adjust isolators to level equipment.
- Adjust all limit stop locknuts (10) per isolator to obtain an 1/8 to 3/16 inch gap. The limit stop nuts must be kept at this gap to ensure uniform bolt loading during a seismic event.
- Tighten nut (13) back down on adjusting bolt (5) to fasten the equipment securely to the isolator. Installation is complete.
