Boxes/Cartons Containing Used Cores Should Be Immediately And Clearly Identified

Usage:

Be sure to clearly and correctly identify all boxes and cartons that contain cores that are to be returned for core credit. We have received some reports from dealers and customers who received a used core when they ordered a new or remanufactured part. Investigation indicated the major causes of this problem as:

* The mechanics put the used part in the box the new or remanufactured part was received in. The box is neatly closed for core return. But then the box is accidently restocked in the dealers parts area as a good part.
* The used core is in a box waiting to be retuned to Corinth. The box is incorrectly identified and returned to Morton as a normal parts return.

Caterpillar is requesting that boxes/cartons that contain parts to be returned for core credit be clearly marked with the word "CORE" as soon as the used part is placed in them. This will help prevent them from being restocked or returned to Morton.
