Remanufactured 3208 Truck Engines built between January 1, 1991 and March 18, 1991 were incorrectly stamped "DEC1590". These engines should have been stamped " FEB2591" as indicated in the last paragraph of the article. This error was corrected effective with Remanufactured 3208 Truck Engine 62W65725. Approximately 185 engines between serial numbers 62W64852 and 62W65725 were incorrectly stamped. Please make a reference to this information in the original article.

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

Reference: Special Instruction, SEHS9300, "Installation of 0R3231 Remanufactured 3208 Engine (Natural Aspiration)."

The new 0R3231 Remanufactured 3208 Truck Engine replaces the former 0R0779 Remanufactured 3208 Truck Engine. The former truck engine is canceled. The new engine has 17.5:1 compression ratio pistons which will help reduce the quantity of white smoke generated during cold start conditions. The new engine can be used in all the same applications as the former engine.

No single parts manual can be used to identify all the components in the new engine arrangement. However, all of the engine components except the required 7W3846 Piston Body Assembly and 7W371 0 Fuel Nozzle can be obtained by using the parts manual for the 9N5149 Engine Arrangement. This arrangement is in Parts Manual for 3208 Truck Engine, SEBP1240. The 0R2076 Remanufactured Short Block can be used in this application. The 0R2821 Remanufactured Fuel Nozzle and the 0R2822 Nozzle Kit are available as service replacements for the 7W371 0 Fuel Nozzle.

The 0R3231 Remanufactured 3208 Truck Engines will have "SERV MAG" and the date "FEB2591" stamped on the engine information plate. This information will appear in the reference serial number and reference arrangement number locations. The date refers to the Service Magazine in which this article appears. This article can be used as a reference to help ensure the correct parts are used when servicing the engine.
