A New Special Instruction Is Now Available For Installing a Relay and Updating the Digital Control Unit (DCU) for Certain Cat® Engines {7451, 7490}

Special Instruction, REHS7384 provides installation and updating information for the Digital Control Unit (DCU) on the engines that are listed above. Installing Relay and configuring the DCU by setting "Config Output 4" instead of Crank 1 prevents the engines and gensets equipped with an MCS control panel from having the starter engaged inadvertently due to failure of DCU crank output in a high state when the DCU is shorted to battery or experiences a voltage spike from the starter motor mag switch.
