Valve Mechanism Cover - Remove and Install

- Disconnect hose assembly (3).
- Remove bolt (4).
- Remove bolts (1). There are 12 bolts in total.
- Remove valve mechanism cover (2) from the cylinder head.
Note: Remove the valve mechanism cover vertically to avoid damage to the electronic unit injectors.

- Thoroughly clean all gasket surfaces of valve mechanism cover (2). Clean the gasket surfaces of the cylinder head.
- Inspect gasket (5) for damage. If necessary, install a new gasket to valve mechanism cover (2).
Note: Ensure that the gasket is fully seated into the groove of the valve mechanism cover.

Note: Install the valve mechanism cover vertically to avoid damage to the electronic unit injectors.
- Position valve mechanism cover (2) onto cylinder head (8). Ensure that harness assemblies (7) are not trapped during the assembly procedure.
- Install bolts (1).
- Tighten bolts (1) in the numerical sequence that is shown in Illustration 6. Tighten the bolts to a torque of
9 N·m (79 lb in) .Repeat Step 6 in order to ensure correct torque.
- Connect hose assembly (3).
- Install bolt (4).
