Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect hose assembly (3).

2. Remove bolt (4).

3. Remove bolts (1). There are 12 bolts in total.

4. Remove valve mechanism cover (2) from the cylinder head.

   Note: Remove the valve mechanism cover vertically to avoid damage to the electronic unit injectors.

5. Remove gasket (5) from valve mechanism cover (2).

Installation Procedure

1. Thoroughly clean all gasket surfaces of valve mechanism cover (2). Clean the gasket surfaces of the cylinder head.

2. Inspect gasket (5) for damage. If necessary, install a new gasket to valve mechanism cover (2).

   Note: Ensure that the gasket is fully seated into the groove of the valve mechanism cover.

3. Ensure that harness assemblies (7) are not in contact with rocker arms (6) or cylinder head (8).

   Note: Install the valve mechanism cover vertically to avoid damage to the electronic unit injectors.

4. Position valve mechanism cover (2) onto cylinder head (8). Ensure that harness assemblies (7) are not trapped during the assembly procedure.

5. Install bolts (1).

6. Tighten bolts (1) in the numerical sequence that is shown in Illustration 6. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 9 N·m (79 lb in).

   Repeat Step 6 in order to ensure correct torque.

7. Connect hose assembly (3).

8. Install bolt (4).
