Flywheel Housing - Remove and Install

- Remove the bolts from Position (X) from flywheel housing (1).
- Install Tooling (A) into Position (X) on flywheel housing (1).
- Install a suitable lifting device to flywheel housing (1) in order to support the flywheel housing. The weight of flywheel housing (1) is approximately

- Use the lifting device to remove flywheel housing (1) from the cylinder block.
- Remove dust seal (5). If necessary, remove dowels (4) from the cylinder block.

- Inspect crankshaft rear seal (8) for leaks. If there are any oil leaks, replace the crankshaft rear seal. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Rear Seal - Remove" and refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Rear Seal - Install".
- Clean the rear face of the cylinder block. If necessary, install dowels (4) to the cylinder block.
- Install Tooling (A) to the cylinder block. Install dust seal (5).
- Install a suitable lifting device to flywheel housing (1). The weight of the flywheel housing (1) is approximately
32 kg (70 lb) . - Use the lifting device to align flywheel housing (1) with Tooling (A). Install the flywheel housing to the cylinder block.
- Apply Tooling (B) to the treads of bolts (2) and bolts (3). Install bolts (2) and bolts (3) to flywheel housing (1).
- Remove Tooling (A). Install remaining bolts (3).

70 ± 15 N·m (52 ± 11 lb ft) in the sequence that is shown in Illustration 7. - Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of
240 ± 40 N·m (177 ± 30 lb ft) in the sequence that is shown in Illustration 7. - Check the alignment of flywheel housing (1) with the crankshaft. Refer to System Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Flywheel Housing - Inspect".
