Lubricant Supplement Lists Specifications For CXP Lubricants

Usage:

Reference: Truck Engine News, February 1988, Page 3, "CXP Fluids Available From Caterpillar Inc. ".

With the availability of CXP lubricants announced in the Reference Article, it is important to provide Caterpillar's new lubricant specifications and viscosities to dealers and users. These specifications meet or exceed all SAE and MIL (Military-United States Army) requirements. These recommendations will aid in purchasing the correct lubricants so all users can obtain the maximum life designed and built into all Caterpillar products.

Therefore, a Lubricant Specification Supplement, Form SEBU6251, Caterpillar's CXP Engine And Marine Lubricant Recommendations, is available. This covers all Cat Truck Engines.

The new supplement lists the specifications and the viscosities for various temperature ranges for all the lubricants, including hydraulic oil, and grease. Substitute lubricants are listed if the CXP lubricant is not available. Order copies in the usual manner.

The CXP lubricants and grease apply to all current and noncurrent Cat truck engines worldwide, and will eventually be used as the factory fill at all factories. However, these CXP items are not yet available world-wide. Therefore, until January 1, 1989, the current Operation And Maintenance Manuals will be sent with truck engines shipped from the Caterpillar Belgium S.A. plant. As the CXP items are phased into U.S.-built truck engines, the Lubricant Supplement will be sent with these truck engines.
