Software Upgrade For The 8T5282 Digital Diagnostic Tool (DDT)

Usage:

Reference: Special Instruction SEHS8743-01, "Using the 8T5282 Digital Diagnostic Tool (DDT) Group with the 3406B Programmable Electronic Engine Control (PEEC) Module provides more information about the DDT. "

The 7X1830 Service Program Module (SPM) is software in an Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EPROM) chip. It can be installed in the 8T5282 3406B PEEC DDT by removing the back of the DDT and exchanging the new SPM for the present chip. The SPM snaps easily in and out of its socket.

The 7X1830 Service Program Module updates the 8T5282 3406B PEEC DDT software from Version 1.1 to 1.2. The DDT will display the version number for its program during the power up self test. The following enhancements are provided by this update.

... Low Idle Engine RPM parameter programming added.
... Top Engine Limit parameter reprogrammed to maximum for that engine rating after an engine rating change.
... Vehicle Speed Calibration can be entered in Pulses Per Mile (PPM), instead of a calculated number.
... Engine Rating can only be selected from Customer Specified Parameter Mode (CSP).
... Engine Rating information shown in Metric and U.S. units.

Benefits

The 7X1830 SPM updates the software of the 8T5282 2406B PEEC DDT to interface with the 1988 model year trucks and to provide the new service functions listed above. The advantage of the SPM is that it eliminates tool obsolescence. Rather than buying a brand new tool to service 1988 model year trucks, the SPM can be easily installed instead, giving dealers and customers a completely updated DDT.
