Additional Parts Required For Installation Of C-336 ® Jacobs Engine Brake
Usage:
Early 3306 and 3306B Truck Engines
As announced earlier by Caterpillar's Engine Division, the C-336 Jacobs Engine Brake is available for direct installation on 3306 Truck Engines 76R6115-Up, and 3306B Truck Engines 63Z3300-Up. It is permissible to use this exhaust brake on earlier engines of either model if the following new parts are also installed.
- 1-7C3863 Camshaft
- 1-7C7011 Rocker Arm Bracket (No. 6 cylinder)
- 12-7S3161 Lifter
- 1-7C7011 Rocker Arm Bracket (No. 6 cylinder)
The new camshaft has harder lobes than either of the former camshafts so it can withstand the higher loads on the push rods. All new lifters will give longer life under the higher loads than used lifters. The new rocker arm bracket has a 12.7 mm (.50 ") threaded hole to supply pressure oil to the brake, which is why it is at the No. 6 position.
