Ohm Meter (Capable of measuring less than 0.1 ohms)     1    

  1. Put the multimeter on the 200 ohm resistance (ohms) scale. Connect the multimeter leads between each pair of stator leads (2) of stator (1) for a total of three readings.

  1. The resistance values should be as follows. See Specifications for the K1, 24V 3E-7295 Charging Alternator Gp, 8C-5535 Charging Alternator Gp, and 7T-2876 Charging Alternator Gp .

    Charging Alternator Gp ... .14 to .15 ohms

    9X-0341 Charging Alternator Gp ... .55 to .56 ohms

    9W-3043 Charging Alternator Gp ... .20 to .22 ohms

    2Y-4212 Charging Alternator Gp ... .41 to .51 ohms

    9Y-8310 Charging Alternator Gp ... .34 to .42 ohms

  1. If the resistance is not correct, the stator is open or shorted and must be replaced.

  1. Put the multimeter on the 20M resistance (Ohms) scale. Connect a multimeter lead to each stator lead (2) and touch the other meter lead to the stator frame.

  1. The resistance value should be 100000 ohms or greater (meter reading 0.10 or greater).

  1. If the meter reading is low, the stator is grounded and must be replaced.
