Another Gauge Group Available To Check For Excessive Wear In Turbocharger Seal Ring Grooves

Usage:

A 1U6314 Gauge Group is available to check for excessive wear in seal ring grooves on turbocharger thrust collars, slinger sleeves, and shaft and wheel assemblies. The gauges in this group, along with those in the 6V7060 Gauge Group, provide gauges to check the grooves for the maximum allowable width in all current turbochargers.

The new gauge group consists of seven gauges in a case. See illustration. Each gauge has its individual part number and the size in millimeters stamped on it. The part numbers and the sizes in the group are:

8T9112 Gauge, 1.778 mm (.0700")
8T9113 Gauge, 1.791 mm (.0705")
8T9114 Gauge, 1.796 mm (.0707")
8T9115 Gauge, 1.816 mm (.0715")
8T9116 Gauge, 1.829 mm (.0720")
8T9117 Gauge, 2.502 mm (.0985")
8T9118 Gauge, 2.581 mm (.1016")
6V7012 Foam Insert
6V6041 Case

The new gauge group for determining excessive wear in turbocharger ring grooves.

Each gauge is precision ground to the MAXIMUM allowable width for the seal ring groove being measured. When measuring the groove, hold the gauge square with the groove. If the gauge will not go in the groove, the part is reusable. If the gauge does go in the groove, the part must be either reconditioned or scrapped. Refer to "Reusability Guide For Turbochargers", SEBF8019 for the maximum allowable widths of the seal ring grooves.
