Reference: Truck Engine News, November 7, 1984, Page 4, "New High Alloy Material Is Used In Cylinder Head Assemblies " The article describes the use of new high alloy material in cylinder head castings for all 3400 Family Of Truck Engines.

Description of Change: A new cylinder head is in use for the 3406 and 3406B Truck Engines. The new head has improved exhaust porting and is made from the high alloy material discussed in the reference article.

Adaptable To: The new 7W6 Cylinder Head is a part of the new 7W7 Cylinder Head Assembly, and serviced as 7W9 Cylinder Head Assembly. These parts are direct replacements for the former 7W2200 Cylinder Head, 7W2201 Cylinder Head Assembly, and 7W2204 Cylinder Head Assembly, respectively. The new parts are in effect with the engines listed in the chart.
