All Three Main Bearing Part Numbers Stamped On Lower Portion Of Standard Size Bearing

Usage:

3208 Truck Engines

The 3208 Truck Engine uses three different upper main bearing shells on the crankshaft. However, the lower portions of each main bearing are identical to each other. This means that the same lower portion is used with any of the three upper portions of a bearing to form the complete bearing shell. Formerly, the part number of the complete bearing shell was also stamped on the lower portion. This meant that even though the lower portions are identical, three different part numbers were found on the lower portions (one number on each portion).

To reduce time in stamping and stocking of the complete, standard size bearing shells (upper portion and lower portion), the three abbreviated part numbers of the complete bearing shells are now stamped on all the lower portions. See chart.

NOTE: This means that when replacement bearings are ordered only the number on the top portion must be used. Replacement bearings will continue to include both the upper and lower portions.
