UPSB130 Uninterruptible Power Supply UPS Battery - 60Hz Caterpillar

IGBT - Test

Usage:

UPSB 130 XTC

NOTICE

Electrostatic discharge can damage integrated circuits or semiconductors if you touch the connector pins. When not in use, keep modules in static shielded bags. Follow these guidelines when you handle modules:

Allow a minimum of 5 minutes for capacitors to discharge.

Touch a grounded object to discharge static potential.

Wear a wrist-strap grounding device.

Do not touch the connector pins.

Do not touch circuit components inside the module.

If available, use a static-safe work station.

Note: The 355-8580 Test Kit is used for this procedure.

Ensure that all lockout/tagout procedures for the site are followed to ensure that power is not applied while the equipment is being serviced.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suitable to the work being performed must be worn when performing maintenance on the UPS.

------ DANGER! ------

High voltage is present. Work on this equipment must be performed by authorized trained personnel. Personnel must be wearing Personal Protective Equipment that meets regulatory requirements to protect the body for the work that is being performed. Failure to use appropriate PPE to protect the body will result in serious personal injury or death.

  1. Remove power from the UPS by following the appropriate shutdown routine.

After power is removed, wait for 5 minutes before the UPS is opened. This action allows the capacitors to discharge. Ensure that the capacitors are at a zero energy level before performing work.

  1. Verify that power is present for the following:power supply and the IGBTs on each leg (5x). Refer to Illustration 1.

LED "HE1" (5b) - The power is present on the leg.

LED "HE2" (5a) - The IGBT command is present on the leg.

LED "HE3" (5d) - The power is present on the leg.

LED "HE4" (5c) - The IGBT command is present on the leg.

  1. Verify the status by observing the LEDs. Refer to Table 1.
