Engine Oil Pump - Disassemble

Start By:

  1. Remove the engine oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pump - Remove".


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Remove bolt (5), thrust plate (6), and idler gear assembly (7) from shaft assembly (8).

  2. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press in order to remove the bearing from idler gear assembly (7).

  3. Remove shaft assembly (8) from body (4). Remove bolt (1) and washer (2).

  4. Use Tooling (A) and Tooling (B) in order to remove drive gear (3) from body (4). Remove the key from the pump shaft.

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.

    Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.

    Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.


  5. Remove bolts (18) and separate cover (17) from body (4).

  6. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press in order to remove bearings (16) from cover (17).

  7. Remove shaft assemblies (15).

  8. Remove bolts (13) and retainer (12).

  9. Remove spring (11), plunger ring (10), and plunger (9).

  10. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press in order to remove bearings (14) from body (4).
