The Cat Grade Control system has been allocated an area on the 300E machine display to convey related Cat Grade Control information. Three function keys are utilized to interact with the Grade Control system. This area is referred to as the multi information area (1). Illustration 1 is an example of Cat Grade Control system running on the 300E display with the associated three function keys.

Arrow Keys

The arrow keys are used to cursor through the display. Additionally, the arrow keys are used to change values when selected.

Keypad Guidance Area

(3) Hard keys

The keypad guidance area (2) shows icons depending upon the functionality that is available at that time. The icons shown change depending upon the current screen displayed or other system-related settings.

The hard keys (3) perform some function based on the icon shown in the corresponding keypad guidance area (2). Press the corresponding hard key to perform the designated function.

Main menu - Press the button corresponding to this soft key to return to the main menu.

Soft key cycle - Press this button to change or cycle through the various allowed soft key functions.

Bench rotation angle (Optional) - If the heading sensor is installed, pressing this button will establish a "zero" angle of rotation. As the machine rotates, the rotation angle shown is with respect to the orientation of the machine when this button is pressed.

Touchpoint - Press this button to initiate the touch-point feature.

Accept laser - Press this button within 3 seconds after a valid laser strike has been detected to update the elevation for the machine with respect to the original benchmark.

Benchmark - Press and release this button to set the benchmark. Press and hold the button to clear the benchmark.

Set ceiling - Press and release this button to set the ceiling for the linkage elevation monitor feature (when enabled).

Set floor - Press and release this button to set the floor for the linkage elevation monitor feature (when enabled).

Note: The following functions may also be performed using the joystick switches: touch point, accept laser and benchmark.
