Usage:
3600 Family Of Engines
Description of Change: A new seal group is used in the water pump group on 3600 family of Engines. The new seal group has improved the face seal life. See the illustration for seal location.
Location of seal.
Adaptable To: The new 9Y1522 Seal Group is a direct replacement for the former 1W2836 Seal Group which has been canceled. Care must be taken during assembly to prevent damage to the new seal group.
Installation Procedure
1. During assembly, use only clean water as a lubricant.
2. With the installation tool and hand pressure, insert the stationary seal member and the rubber seal into the pump housing with the polished face of the ring toward the shaft-mounted seal assembly.
3. Remove the spring from the seal assembly.
4. With the installation tool and hand pressure, press the seal assembly on the shaft until the seal faces make light contact.
5. Install the spring.
6. Use air pressure to test the seal at 140 kPa (20 psi).
