Left side assembly

(1) Apply 4C-4030 Thread Lock Compound to the threads of the 12 bolts.

(2) Apply 1U-8801 Rust Preventive Oil coating on the machined face of the axle assembly.

(3) Apply a bead of 8T-0065 Silicone Sealant on the machined face of the axle assembly surrounding tapped holes.

(4) Prior to assembly, ensure that the rim mounting surface is free of paint and free of grease.

(5) The rubber toric seals and all the contacting surfaces must be clean and dry at assembly. Prior to assembly, apply a thin layer of 6V-4876 Lubricant to the contacting surfaces of the metal seal rings. The seal rings must be assembled square with the bore. The rubber toric seal should not bulge and the rubber toric seal should not twist.

(6) Apply 4C-4030 Thread Lock Compound to the threads of the pipe plug.

Note: Apply 154-9731 Thread Lock Compound to the threads of the bolts after the bearing adjustment and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

(7) Torque for 10 bolts ... 1800 ± 200 N·m (1328 ± 148 lb ft)

Note: Apply 154-9731 Thread Lock Compound to the threads of the bolts .

(8) Torque for six bolts ... 20 ± 3 N·m (177 ± 26 lb in)

Note: See the Steering System Testing and Adjusting, "Front Wheel Bearing - Adjust" in order to determine the amount of shims to use.

(9) Thickness of 152-1672 Shim Pack ... 3.9 mm (0.15 inch)
