Adding Heat Shrink To The Harness Reduces Warnings {1273, 1408}

Generator Set: C15 GEN SET (S/N: C5E1-UP; C5H1-UP)

The C15 Generator Set uses a single electrical harness for all of the configuration of the product. The unused connectors in the electrical harness are not protected from the environment.

Issue

Two wires are exposed on the 266-7116 Engine Harness As. The wires are available for use by the customer in order to connect a fuel level switch. If the two wires are not connected to a switch, then the wires are left exposed. The exposed wires can create a short in the harness that can result in a warning that is displayed on the control panel.

Resolution

If the wires are not used in order to connect a fuel level switch, the wires must be cut. Use a tool in order to cut pin 72 and pin 2 so that the wires are even with the white insulation. Use Heat shrink on the wires so that the wires are not exposed to the environment. Generator Sets that were built after 3November 2008 will have heat shrink that was applied at the factory.
