Typical example

An improved pressure relief valve has been introduced. The new pressure relief valve has improved reliability. Illustration 1 shows the new pressure relief valve. Illustration 2 shows the old pressure relief valve.

Adaptable To: The new 305-5291 Relief Valve As replaces the old pressure relief valve. The new 305-5291 Relief Valve As should be installed on the 265-8126 Fuel Rail Assembly or the 308-8425 Fuel Rail Assembly for the C4.4 engine. The new 305-5291 Relief Valve As should be installed on the 265-8125 Fuel Rail Assembly or the 308-8426 Fuel Rail Assembly for the C6.6 engine.

Note: The new 305-5291 Relief Valve As has been installed to the 311-6631 Fuel Rail Assembly for the C4.4 engine. The new 305-5291 Relief Valve As has been installed to the 311-6632 Fuel Rail Assembly for the C6.6 engine. The procedure to remove the old pressure relief valve and the procedure to install the new pressure relief valve is described in steps 1 to 5.

    NOTICE

Ensure that all adjustments and repairs that are carried out to the fuel system are performed by authorised personnel that have the correct training. Before begining ANY work on the fuel system, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information and High Pressure Fuel Lines" for safety information. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Cleanliness of Fuel System Components" for detailed information on the standards of cleanliness that must be observed during ALL work on the fuel system.

    NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

    Typical example

  1. Install new pressure relief valve (4) to the fuel manifold (Rail).

    NOTICE

If the pressure relief valve is torqued at position (X), the pressure relief valve will be damaged.

    Illustration 5g01729253

    Typical example

  1. Use a 27 mm (1.06299 inch) deep socket in order to tighten the pressure relief valve (4) to a torque of 120 N·m (89 lb ft).

Note: The pressure relief valve is a two-piece valve that should not be disassembled.

  1. Install the tube assembly and the connection to pressure relief valve (1) .
