Start By:

  1. Remove the aftercooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Aftercooler - Remove".


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Mark the orientation of both bonnets (5) and (8) to the aftercooler housing for assembly purposes.

  1. Remove adapter (7) and remove the O-ring.

  1. Remove bolts (6) and remove both bonnet (5) and bonnet (8) .

  1. Remove O-rings (4) and remove spacers (3) .

  1. Remove O-rings (2) from housing (1) .

  1. Mark the orientation of bonnet (12) to housing (1) for assembly purposes.

  1. Remove bolts (13) and remove bonnet (12) .

  1. Remove O-rings (11) and remove the core assemblies (10) .

  1. Remove O-rings (9) from housing (1) .

  1. If necessary, clean debris from the core assemblies. Use Tooling (A) in order to clean deposits from the tube assemblies.
