Usage:
3306B Industrial Engines In Early Ingersoll-Rand XHP 750 Portable Air Compressors
Description of Change: The coolant line connections for the water conditioner on 3306B Industrial Engines in Ingersoll-Rand XHP 750 Portable Air Compressors have been changed. Formerly, the inlet and return lines to the water conditioner were both connected to ports in the 8N4408 Water Lines Group (elbow). See Illustration 1.
Illustration 1. Former routing of lines to the water conditioner.
The connections for both lines have been changed as shown in Illustration 2. This creates more pressure differential between the inlet and outlet lines connected to the conditioner, and more coolant flows through the conditioner making it more effective in the cooling system. See Illustration 2.
Illustration 2. New routing of lines to the water conditioner.
Adaptable To: The new connections are effective on XHP 750 Compressors with serial number 156-965. The connections can be changed on XHP 750 Compressors 156-1 thru 156-964 whenever convenient.
1. Remove the plug at location (E) from the oil cooler elbow.
2. Disconnect hose (1) from the upper location on the 8N4408 Water Lines Group (elbow), and connect this hose to the oil cooler elbow at the former location of the plug. See Illustration 2.
3. Install the plug at location (A) where hose (1) was previously connected.
4. Disconnect other end of hose (1) at location (D), and reconnect it to location (F) on the conditioner.
5. Reconnect hose (2) from location (C) on the conditioner to location (D). The other end of hose (2) should already be connected to location (B) on the water elbow.
