New Caterpillar Excavator Service Reporting Codes Booklet For SIMS And Service Claims Use {0336}

Usage:

Hydraulic Excavators

A new green booklet is now available that contains the service reporting codes for SIMS and Service Claims on excavators. The booklet is titled "Caterpillar Excavator Service Reporting Codes for SIMS and Service Claims Use" and can be ordered by specifying Form SEBD0849.

The service reporting codes in this booklet can be used for all excavators built by Caterpillar and others built for Caterpillar, including those "MS" models built and sold by Mitsubishi. For other Caterpillar products, continue using the red booklet titled "Caterpillar Product Service Reporting Codes for SIMS and Service Claim Use," Form SEBD0850.

Substitute group numbers and part numbers can be used when the actual group and part numbers are not available.

Included in the green booklet are illustrations of excavator fabricated structures with substitute group and part numbers assigned to the different areas of the structures. See illustration. In the parts book, these fabricated structures are usually assigned with one part number and one group number. Selecting appropriate substitute part numbers from these illustrations in the booklet will identify the failed area more specifically.

All MHI excavators built prior to the middle of 1987 carry an MHI serial number that must be converted to the eight digit Caterpillar product identification number. This is done by assigning PIN prefixes to the MHI serial numbers based on the sales model and serial number range. This information is summarized in a chart in the booklet.
