    The Power Train Electric Drive System will contain hazardous voltage levels during machine operation and for a period of time after machine shutdown.

    Do not remove any covers that will expose energized electrical components while the engine is operating. Do not remove any covers that will expose the energized electrical components while the components remain energized following an engine shutdown.

    Do not perform any type of electrical maintenance on the orange hazardous voltage conductors or the power train components while the engine is operating.

    Always perform the safe shutdown and de-energizing procedure before performing electrical service on the Power Train Electric Drive System.

    Failure to follow these instructions could result in personal injury or death.


  1. Perform the electrical shutdown and voltage discharge procedure. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Electrical Shutdown and Voltage Discharge" for the correct procedure.

  2. Remove the cab. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cab - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.

  3. Remove nuts (1), bolts (2), bolts (3), and guard assembly (4).

  4. Cut cable straps (5).

    Note: Harness assembly (6) may have safety wires attached. Remove the safety wires prior to disconnecting harness assembly (6).

  5. Disconnect harness assembly (6). Position harness assembly (6) out of the way.

  6. Remove bolts (7) and cover (8).

  7. Use Tooling (A) to verify that the voltage for cable assembly (9) is 0 V.

  9. Cut cable strap (13).

  10. Loosen connector (12).

  11. Loosen grommet assembly (11).

  12. Position cable assembly (9) as shown in Illustration 8.

  19. Loosen connector (26).

  20. Loosen grommet assembly (25).

  21. Remove cable assembly (9).

  22. As necessary, repeat Step 3 to Step 21 for the remaining cable assemblies.

  3. Remove bolts (28) and plate (29).

  4. Remove bolts (30) and cover (31).

  5. Use Tooling (A) to verify that the voltage for cable assembly (32) is 0 V.

  6. Remove bolts (33), plate (34), and clamp (35).

  8. Cut cable strap (39).

  9. Loosen connector (38).

  10. Loosen grommet assembly (37).

  12. Remove bolts (41), plate (42), and clamp (43).

  13. Position cable assembly (40) out of the way.

  20. Loosen connector (54).

  21. Loosen grommet assembly (53).

  22. Remove cable assembly (32).

  23. As necessary, repeat Step 3 to Step 22 for the remaining cable assemblies.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install cable assembly (32) and cable assembly (9) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten grommet assembly (53) and connector (54) to a torque of 15 ± 1 N·m (133 ± 9 lb in).

    2. Tighten grommet assembly (37) and connector (38) to a torque of 15 ± 1 N·m (133 ± 9 lb in).

    3. Use Tooling (B) to install a new cable strap (55) and a new cable strap (39).

    4. The electrical connections for bolt (52), bolt (36), and cable assembly (32) must have debris and extra oil removed prior to assembly. A clean towel and a solution of 90% isopropyl alcohol and 10% water is required for cleaning.

    5. Tighten grommet assembly (25) and connector (26) to a torque of 15 ± 1 N·m (133 ± 9 lb in).

    6. Tighten grommet assembly (11) and connector (12) to a torque of 15 ± 1 N·m (133 ± 9 lb in).

    7. Use Tooling (B) to install a new cable strap (27) and a new cable strap (13).

    8. The electrical connections for bolt (24), bolt (10), and cable assembly (9) must have debris and extra oil removed prior to assembly. A clean towel and a solution of 90% isopropyl alcohol and 10% water is required for cleaning.
