Fuel Tank - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Remove the cab.

  2. Remove the implement control valve.

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death may result from failure to adhere to the following procedures.

Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.

Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system.

Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.


  1. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System Water and Sediment - Drain" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  2. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to guard assembly (1). The weight of guard assembly (1) is approximately 45 kg (100 lb).

  3. Remove bolts (2) and guard assembly (1).

  4. Remove bolts (3) and guard assembly (4).

  5. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to guard assembly (6). The weight of guard assembly (6) is approximately 75 kg (165 lb).

  6. Remove bolts (5) and guard assembly (6).

  7. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to guard assembly (8). The weight of guard assembly (8) is approximately 20 kg (43 lb).

  8. Remove bolts (7) and guard assembly (8).

  9. Cut cable straps (9) and position harness assembly (10) out of the way.

  10. Disconnect hose assembly (11).

  11. Remove the bolt and clip (12).

  12. Cut cable straps (13) and position harness assembly (14) out of the way.

  13. Remove bolt (15) and flood lamp assembly (16).

  14. Use a suitable rod to support manifold (17).

  15. Remove bolts (18).

  16. Cut cable straps (21).

  17. Disconnect harness assembly (19) and harness assembly (20). Position harness assembly (19) and harness assembly (20) out of the way.

  18. Cut cable straps (23).

  19. Disconnect harness assembly (22).

  20. Remove the bolt and clip (24).

  21. Remove bolts (26) and position the harness assemblies out of the way.

  22. Cut cable straps (25) and position harness assembly (22) out of the way.

  23. Remove bolts (27) and clips (28).

  24. Disconnect hose assembly (29).

  25. Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to fuel tank (30). The weight of fuel tank (30) is approximately 454 kg (1000 lb).

  26. Remove bolts (31) and bolts (32).

  27. Remove bolts (33) and bolts (34).

  28. Remove fuel tank (30).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install fuel tank (30) in the reverse order of removal.
