Field Installation of the Single Shank Autolube and Multi Shank Autolube for the D11 {6310, 7540}

Introduction

Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.

This Special Instruction provides the procedure and required parts for the field installation for the single shank Autolube and the multi shank Autolube for the D11.

Reference: Refer to Torque Specifications, SENR3130.

  1. Install elbow (1) into the tilt cylinder. Refer to Illustration 6.

  2. Connect upper tilt cylinder lube hose assembly (2) to elbow (1). Refer to Illustration 6.

  3. Secure hose assembly (2) to the ripper carriage using bolt (3) and clip (4). Refer to Illustration 6.

  4. Repeat this Step for a mirror image of the opposite side. Refer to Illustration 6.

  5. Install elbow (6) into the ripper lift cylinder rod end. Connect hose assembly (1) to elbow (6) on the lower lift cylinder. Secure lower lift cylinder hose assembly (1) to the lower ripper using bracket assembly (7), spacer (8), bolt (9), washer (10), and clip (11). Refer to Illustration 9.

  6. repeat Step 5 for a mirror image of the opposite side. Refer to Illustration 9.

  1. Install 2 elbows (1) into the lower frame and ripper lift cylinder rod end. Refer to Illustration 20.

  2. Connect hose assembly (2) to elbow (1) in the lower frame. Refer to Illustration 20.

  3. Connect hose assembly (3) to elbow (1) in the ripper lift cylinder rod end. Refer to Illustration 20.

  4. Secure hose assembly (2) and hose assembly (3) using clip (4) and bolt (5) Refer to Illustration 20.

  5. Repeat Step 1 through Step 4 for a mirror image of the opposite side.

Purging Process for Bleeding the System of Air

After installation of the Autolube it is best to complete a manual lube cycle to ensure system functionality. Also, any air in the system will need to be bled.

  1. To allow any purging of air in the lines, remove supply hose/s (A) to the injector bank/s on the rear of the ripper.

  2. Using Caterpillar Electronic Technician, enter the manual Autolube test section to perform manual command to pump. Refer to Illustration 23.

  3. The pump will activate for up to 25 minutes or until a pressure of 20684 kPa (3000 psi) is reached.

    (B) Front Purge Port

  4. Continue to pump until grease is coming out of the supply hoses. Repeat the purging process for the supply hose to purge port (B) on injectors on the top of the radiator guard.

  5. Reconnect the supply hose/s and rerun another manual grease cycle to ensure system functionality.
