A leak can occur at the vent hole in the rotor head of the fuel injection pump. The rotor head contains four vent holes.

In the event of a suspected problem with the fuel injection pump, perform the appropriate diagnostic procedures.

If a problem is identified the fuel injection pump must be sent to the nearest approved Delphi agent for a modification.

An improved fuel injection pump is available for the 3054 and 3054C engines. The fuel injection pumps that have been modified are identified by a date code. The date code is scribed on the plate on the fuel injection pump.

The earliest fuel injection pumps that have been modified show the date code LZG which is equivalent to November 2006.

Subsequent date codes are shown below.

The first letter signifies the month in the date code. The second letter signifies the year.

  • MZG is equivalent to December 2006.

  • AAG is equivalent to January 2007.

  • BAG is equivalent to February 2007.
