Changes To The Injection Pump And The Fuel Setting{1251,1257}

Usage:

3208 Engines, 225 Excavators, 613B Tractor-Scrapers

Description of Change: The clearance between the pump plungers and barrels in the injection pumps of the above engines has been decreased. This will permit better and more constant fuel delivery between cylinders in the engine.

Adaptable To: The fuel pumps with less clearance are used in 3208 Industrial Engines with approximate serial numbers 90N26419-up, and in 3208 Truck Engines with numbers 40S43049-up. The part numbers did not change. The new fuel settings for the most common horsepower settings and arrangements of engines are shown in the chart that follows:

The change in clearance makes it necessary to have a small reduction in the fuel setting because of the increased efficiency of the fuel pumps. This reduction is about 0.16 mm (.006") for all engines.

The new settings are needed on all fuel pumps that have a sequence number 075364 or higher. This sequence number is on the top surface of the pump housing, next to the top cover plate. The part number of the fuel injection pump group (for example, 9N1351) is also shown on this surface.
