NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

    Typical Example

  1. Remove panel (1).

  2. Disconnect temperature sensor (7). Remove bolt (4). Move temperature sensor (7) out of the way.

  3. Disconnect hose assemblies (2).

  4. Disconnect harness assembly (3).

  5. Loosen clamps (5) and (9).

  6. Remove bolts (6) and the washers. Remove exhaust gas valve (8).

    Note: Note the position of coil assembly (10) for assembly purposes.

  7. Remove nut (12), washer (11), and coil assembly (10).

  8. Remove cage (13).

  10. Remove O-ring seals (15).

  11. Remove bolts (16) and the washers. Remove rotary actuator (17).

  12. Remove O-ring seal (18).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install exhaust gas valve (8) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Fill Cavity (X) half way with Tooling (A).

    2. Apply Tooling (B) to rotary actuator (17).

    3. Tighten cartridge (14) to a torque of 35 ± 2 N·m (26 ± 1 lb ft).

    4. Tighten cage (13) to a torque of 50 ± 5 N·m (37 ± 4 lb ft).

    5. Tighten nut (12) to a torque of 20 ± 2 N·m (177 ± 18 lb in).

    6. Tighten clamp (9) to a torque of 8.5 ± 2.0 N·m (75.23 ± 17.70 lb in).

    7. Tighten temperature sensor (7) to a torque of 45 ± 5 N·m (33 ± 4 lb ft) when exhaust gas valve (8) is made of ferrous material. Tighten temperature sensor (7) to a torque of 24 ± 3 N·m (212 ± 27 lb in) when exhaust gas valve (8) is made of non-ferrous material.
