  1. Ensure that there is no interference with other components when the brake pedal is applied and released. When the brake pedal is in the released position, the stop lights for the machine should be in the OFF position.

  2. Insert a 3.5 mm (0.14 inch) shim between Treadle heel stop (4) and pedal stop (3) of both the left brake pedal and the right brake pedal. Monitor the stop lights. When the shims are in place, the stop lights should be in the ON position. Remove the shims.

  3. Insert a 1.5 mm (0.06 inch) shim between Treadle heel stop (4) and pedal stop (3) of both the left brake pedal and the right brake pedal. Monitor the stop light. When the shims are in place, the stop lights should be in the OFF position. Remove the shims.

  4. Ensure that the stop lights go ON and OFF when the brake pedal is applied and released. If the stop lights work properly, no adjustments are necessary at this time.

Adjustment Procedure

  1. If steps 2, 3, and 4 are not satisfied, perform the following procedure.

  2. Insert a 3.5 mm (0.14 inch) shim between Treadle heel stop (4) and pedal stop (3) in the left brake pedal.

  3. Remove plug (1) and turn the adjustment screw for switch (2) counterclockwise in order to turn the stop lights OFF. Then, turn the adjustment screw for the switch clockwise until the stop lights turn ON. When the shims are in place, the stop lights should be in the ON position. Remove the shims. The stop light should go to the OFF position.

  4. Insert the 1.5 mm (0.06 inch) shim between Treadle heel stop (4) and pedal stop (3) of the left brake pedal. Monitor the stop lights. When the shims are in place, the stop lights should be in the OFF position. Remove the shims.

  5. Ensure that the stop lights go ON and OFF when the left brake pedal is applied and released. Repeat steps 2, 3, and 4 if the stop lights do not work properly.

Note: If the stop lights will not operate properly after the adjustment procedure, remove the cover for the enclosure. The limit switch may need replacement.

  6. Install plug (1). If necessary, install the enclosure cover.
