Note: Apply clean engine oil to the female ends of the exhaust manifold (3) before assembly. Apply 2P-2333 High Temperature Sealer to the male ends of the exhaust manifolds (1) before assembly. Remove excess sealer from the assembled joint.

Section A-A

Use the following procedure to tighten the hose clamps (2) :

  1. Tighten the two hose clamps to 5 ± 1 N·m (45 ± 9 lb in).

  1. Again tighten the two hose clamps 10 ± 1 N·m (90 ± 9 lb in).

Tightening sequence

(4) Tighten the 12 locknuts in the numerical sequence that is shown in Illustration 3 to 38 ± 5 N·m (28 ± 4 lb ft).

Note: Apply 4C-5599 Anti-Seize Compound to the threads of the taperlock studs.

(5) Torque for 16 taperlock studs ... 35 ± 5 N·m (26 ± 4 lb ft)
