The improved waste handling arrangement (if equipped) contains one new 365-5075 Seal Guard As. The new seal guard assembly prevents debris from wrapping around the shaft of the fan motor. The new seal guard assembly will improve the service life of the fan motor in the field.
The new 365-5075 Seal Guard As is now part of the 211-5088 Waste Handling Ar (if equipped). The new seal guard assembly is adaptable to machines RJS1-UP.
Use the following procedure to update the earlier machines with the new 365-5075 Seal Guard As.

- Release the hydraulic pressure in the machine. Refer to the above listed documents for the correct procedure for machine on which you are working.
- Apply vacuum pressure to the hydraulic tank. For the correcr procedure, refer to the first step in the removal procedure for the bulldozer lift cylinder in the above listed documents.
- Remove the retaining bolts from the grill doors. Open the grill doors. Save the retaining bolts.
- Remove the debris guards, and the p-clips from both sides of the fan support assembly (7). Save all of the parts.

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Use a suitable lifting device to support the hydraulic fan piston motor, the fan adapter, and the fan support assembly. The weight of the parts is approximately 102 kg (225 lb). Remove the bolts and washers that attach the fan support assembly to the machine. Remove the parts from the machine. Save the bolts and washers.

- Remove bolt (9) and retainer (10) that attach the fan adapter (11) to the hydraulic fan piston motor. Save the bolt and retainer.
Illustration 4 | g02694216 |
- Use a puller to remove fan adapter (11) from the hydraulic fan piston motor. Refer to the above listed removal process for the hydraulic fan piston motor for the required tooling.
- Slide seal guard assembly (1) onto the pump shaft and housing.
Illustration 5 | g02694236 |
- Install the fan adapter (11) onto the pump shaft and seal guard assembly (1). Refer to Illustration 4. Use bolt (9) and retainer (10) that were saved in Step 8 to attach the adapter to the pump shaft.
Illustration 6 | g02694258 |
- Use a suitable lifting device to install the hydraulic fan piston motor, the fan adapter, and the fan support assembly into the machine. The weight of the parts is approximately 102 kg (225 lb). Use the hardware saved in Step 7 to attach the parts to the machine
- Use a suitable lifting device to position the fan spider to the hydraulic fan piston motor. The approximate weight of the fan spider is 57 kg (126 lb). Use four bolts (3) and four hard washers (4) to attach the fan spider to the adapter. Install the bolts and hard washers in the positions shown in the illustration.
Illustration 7 | g02694281 |
- Install four bolts (5) and four spacers (2) to the fan spider in the remaining four holes. Rotate the fan guard so the bolts align with the fan guard holes. Ensure that the bolts are tightened to the adapter.
Illustration 8 | g02694297 |
- Install four hard washers (4) and four locknuts (6) to the four bolts (5) that extend through seal guard assembly (1). Hold the bolt head and torque the nuts to 55 ± 10 N·m (41 ± 7 lb ft).
