Introduction
The following Special Instruction contains directions on upgrading the differential steering controls on the D6T, D7E, and D8T Track-Type Tractors. In order to do this rework the following parts kits will be required:

Rework Procedure
- Disassemble the left-hand control group. Save hardware for reuse on the D6T.
- Remove tiller
- Remove left-hand control group covers
- Remove clock spring assembly
- Disconnect tiller handle and clock spring harnesses
- Remove tiller
- Install plate (3) using screws (1). Refer to Illustration 1 for the correct orientation of plate (3) .

- Install the tiller handle harness.
- Position the cover(s) over the bracket, do not secure.
- On the D7E and D8T, route the harness through the cover and through grommet hole (8) .
- Reinstall the grommet.
- D6T: Reuse the grommet from the disassembly procedure.
- D7E: Reuse the grommet from the disassembly procedure. Install onto the new tiller harness and firmly press the grommet into place.
- D8T: Install grommet (2) onto the tiller harness and firmly press into place.
- D6T: Reuse the grommet from the disassembly procedure.

- Locate the paint mark on the harness and tie strap the harness to the tab on plate (3). Secure the harness firmly using a tie strap gun. Refer to Illustrations 2 and 3 for the location of the straps.

- Align the handle keyway and woodruff key.
- Slide the handle onto the shaft and tighten the Allen bolt.

- Install clip (7) on the ECM mounting bolt.
Note: Perform Steps 3.g through 3.h for the D6T only.

- Strap the tiller jumper harness and the mating harness to clip (7) .
- Connect the mating tiller harness.
Note: The main harness should be tie strapped to the bracket.
Note: Perform Step 3.i for the D7E only.
- Connect the mating tiller harness.
Note: Perform Steps 3.j through 3.l for the D8T only.

- Tie strap the receptacle to the bracket assembly using the lower D-shaped cut in the bracket. Tighten with a tie strap gun. Refer to illustration 5 for D-shaped cuts.
- Connect the mating harness.
- Reassembly all of the other components, harnesses, and secure the cover.
