Procedure to Rework 268-9348 STIC Control Gp

------ WARNING! ------

Sudden movement or accidental starting of the machine can cause personal injury or death to persons on or near the machine.

To prevent personal injury or death, perform the following:

Park the machine on a smooth level surface.

Lower the bucket and or attachments to the ground.

Stop the engine and engage the parking brake.

Block the wheels and install the steering frame lock.

Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position and remove the key.

Place a Special Instruction, SEHS7332, "Do Not Operate" tag at the battery disconnect switch location to inform personnel that the machine is being worked on.

----------------------

------ WARNING! ------

Accidental engine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the equipment.

To avoid accidental engine starting, disconnect the battery cable from the negative (−) battery terminal. Completely tape all metal surfaces of the disconnected battery cable end in order to prevent contact with other metal surfaces which could activate the engine electrical system.

Place a Do Not Operate tag at the Start/Stop switch location to inform personnel that the equipment is being worked on.

----------------------

  1. Permit only one operator on the machine. Either keep other personnel away from the machine, or keep other personnel in the sight of the operator.

  1. Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move the machine to an area that is away from operating machines and away from personnel.

  1. Move the transmission F-N-R control to the NEUTRAL position.

  1. Lower the work tools to the ground.

  1. Activate the parking brakes. Stop the engine and remove the ignition key.

  1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to OFF position.

  1. Place blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.

Note: The joystick wiring harness to be routed through the bracket assembly before the bracket assembly is bolted to the armrest. The connector will not fit through the opening once the bracket is mounted to the armrest.

  1. Route the joystick wiring harness (10) through the hole in the new bracket assembly (16) and down. Attach the joystick wiring harness (10) to the new bracket assembly (16) with a new cable strap (17). Do not tighten the cable strap (17). Operate the joystick in each direction to ensure that the harness does not bind and tighten the cable strap (17) .

  1. Connect the latch release cable to the latch lever assembly (2) as shown in Illustration 16.

  1. Install the cover (3) and hardware as shown in Illustration 16. Use the cover (3) and hardware that were saved in Step 10. Tighten the screws (20) to 6 ± 1 N·m (53 ± 9 lb in).

    Illustration 17g02318013

  1. Install the cover (4) and hardware as shown in Illustration 17. Use the cover (4) and hardware that were saved in Step 10. Tighten the screws to (20) to 6 ± 1 N·m (53 ± 9 lb in).

    Illustration 18g02318098

  1. Install two screws (21) as shown in Illustration 18. Use the hardware that were saved in Step 10. Tighten the screws (22) to 0.62 ± 0.10 N·m (5.49 ± 0.89 lb in).

  1. Operate the steering joystick through full range of motion and check for smooth operation. Verify the operation of the transmission range selector button.

  1. Operate the console latch to verify correct operation.

  1. Operate the steering lock lever to ensure smooth engagement. Ensure that the lever is adjusted and does not cause the steering to jerk.
