Fuel Injection Timing Changed To 15° With New 3.5° Timing Advance{1206,1272,1292}

Usage:

3208 ( 1Z ) Marine Engines Rated At 280 kW ( 375 hp)

Description of Change: The fuel injection static timing on 3208 TA Marine Engines rated at 280 kW (375 hp) has been changed from 18° BTC with no timing advance to 15° BTC with a 3.5° timing advance. Use of the timing advance reduces the injection pump shock loads on the timing gear teeth because some of the loads are absorbed by the timing advance.

Adaptable To: This change is effective with 3208 TA Marine Engines 1Z6151-Up if they are rated at 280 kW (375 hp). Only the 7W7500 and 7W9150 Engine Arrangements are changed. Some engines prior to 1Z6151 have the new timing and are identified by "15.0 BTC" stamped on the engine information plate.

The new timing is directly adaptable to 1Z4042-1Z6150 by installing a new injection pump camshaft and the timing advance unit (gear and weight as.). See chart.

Almost all engines with serial numbers 1Z1-1Z4041 are originally equipped with a 5° timing advance unit, and are set at 15° BTC static timing. Check the engine information plate on the engine.
