Usage:
All 3300 Series Vehicular Engines
Description of Change: The 3300 Series Engine normally has a lower engine oil pressure than other Caterpillar engines. Engine oil pressure switches used on the above engines in EMS applications have actuation pressures that are too high for 3300 Series Engines. At times, the pressure switch can open and activate EMS even though there is nothing wrong.
A new, normally open pressure switch is used on the above engines that closes at 60 kPa (9.0 psi) on increasing pressure and opens to activate EMS at 38 kPa (5.5 psi). This switch should also be used for other oil pressure functions, such as activating electric hour meters.
Adaptable To: The new 7T988 Switch is a direct replacement for either the 9G8010 or 3T4418 Switch used on 3300 Series Vehicular Engines.
