Installation Procedure

1. Install a new gasket onto the cylinder block. Attach a suitable lifting device onto cylinder head (29). The weight of cylinder head (29) is approximately 118 kg (261 lb). Install cylinder head (29) onto the cylinder block.

2. Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of bolts (27) and bolts (28). Apply tooling (A) to both sides of each washer. Install bolts (27) and (28).

3. Tighten bolts (27) in a numerical sequence. Refer to Illustration 4. Tighten bolts (27) to a torque of 300 ± 15 N·m (220 ± 11 lb ft).

4. Loosen all of the previously tightened bolts (27) to 0 N·m (0 lb ft).

5. Tighten bolts (27) in a numerical sequence. Refer to Illustration 4. Tighten bolts (27) to a torque of 130 ± 15 N·m (95 ± 11 lb ft).

6. Tighten bolts (27) again. Tighten bolts (27) in a numerical sequence. Refer to Illustration 4. Tighten bolts (27) to a torque of 130 ± 15 N·m (95 ± 11 lb ft).

7. Place an index mark on all bolts (27). Tighten each bolt (27) for an additional 1/4 turn. Refer to the torque sequence that is shown in Illustration 4.

8. Tighten bolts (28) in a numerical sequence. Refer to Illustration 4. Tighten bolts (28) to a torque of 55 ± 7 N·m (41 ± 5 lb ft).

9. Install tube assembly (26). Connect harness assembly (25).

10. Position bracket (23) and the dipstick tube. Install the washer and nut (22). Connect harness assembly (21). Install new cable straps (24).

11. Install bracket (20). Install bolts (19).

12. Install clip (18) and install bolt (17).

13. Connect harness assembly (16).

14. Install tube assembly (15). Connect harness assembly (14).

    Note: Check the O-ring seal for wear or for damage. If necessary, replace the O-ring seal.

15. Install the O-ring seal on tube assembly (11). Install the gasket and water temperature regulator housing (10). Connect hose (13). Tighten hose clamp (12). Install bolts (9).

18. Install the gasket on elbow (3). Position elbow (3) on the cylinder head. Tighten bolt (5). Install bolt (4).

19. Install clips (2). Install bolts (1).

End By:

1. Install the unit injectors. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Unit Injector - Install".

2. Install the rocker shaft and pushrods. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rocker Shaft and Pushrod - Install".

3. Install the fan drive mounting group. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan Drive Mounting Group - Remove and Install".

4. Install the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Install".
