Introduction

This special instruction contains information about the drive shaft that is binding. This may cause the transmission bolts for the Isolation mount to break. The binding may occur on Wheel loaders, Wheel dozers, and Landfill compactors.

Problem

The maintenance free 201-7245 Slip Joint may wear over time. This wear may cause the 201-7245 Slip Joint to bind. This will put a thrust load on the lower 114-5138 Transmission Support . This will cause the 7X-2566 Bolts (1) or the 8T-6381 Bolts (1) to loosen. This could also cause the 7x-2566 Bolts (1) or the 8T-6381 Bolts (1) to break.

Solution

The maintenance free 201-7245 Slip Joint should be replaced if there are any major repairs to the power train, or every 12,000 hours. If a repair is required to the lower transmission mount use the Service Magazine, SEPD0907, "Improvement to lower transmission mount procedure".
