ReferenceRefer to Special Instruction, REHS4174, "Procedure to Rework Housings for the Installation of New Planetary Bolts" for the procedure to modify the transfer case and the torque converter housing that are discussed below.
A new bolt and a new washer are now available for the assembly of the planetary transmissions. The new bolt and the new washer will provide better durability.

Fifteen 294-0877 Special Bolts (2) are available in order to replace the 15 246-6025 Special Bolts. Also, 15 235-2496 Hard Washers (1) are available to be used with the new 294-0877 Special Bolts.
The new bolts have a larger radius under the head in order to improve durability. The new washers are required with the new bolts.
Use special care in order to ensure that the old 5P-8245 Hard Washer is not used with the new bolt. The old 5P-8245 Hard Washer will fit over the shank of the new bolt, but the old washer will interfere with the larger radius of the new bolt.
Note: Depending on the tooling that is used to tighten the bolts, the spotfaces on the transfer case and the spotfaces on the torque converter housing may need modified in order to provide adequate clearance. Refer to the reference above for the correct procedure if you modify the spotfaces of the transfer case and the torque converter housing.
This change is adaptable to the machines that are listed above.
