Installation Procedure

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

1. Lower the temperature of bearings (11) and (12) and install bearings (11) and (12) in both sides of the boom.

2. Use Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to position boom (1) on the machine. The weight of boom (1) is approximately 748 kg (1650 lb).

3. Install shims (10), pin assembly (8), and bolt (9). Repeat this Step for the other pin assembly.

4. Disconnect boom cylinder (4) from Tooling (B) on cab (7) and use the suitable lifting device in order to lower boom cylinder (4) into position on the boom.

5. Install pin assembly (5) and bolt (6).

6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for the other boom cylinder.

7. Reposition hose assemblies (3) through boom (1) and connect hose assemblies (3).

8. Install cover (2) on boom (1).

9. If necessary, raise boom (1) in order to remove Tooling (A).

1. Install the grapple. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Grapple - Install".
